Deja Vu

This weekend was just me, Josh & Brady. Since it's been so rainy we thought we'd just hang out and chill...yeah, that never works. Saturday, I went to my friend KB's baby shower in Mt. Olive. it was so nice! Her mother-in-law hosted it and she's such a gracious hostess. It made it fun since I knew almost everyone there. She got some awesome stuff! In the 3+ years since we had our boys (her son is 5 months younger than Brady) they've already come out with so many new things. It's just crazy to think of all the new cool stuff that will come out by the time Josh and I get to have another baby. Some days I think I'd like that time to be now, but most days I know that I won't be ready to let that happen until Brady is a little bit older.

Also on Saturday we got a little surprise, but of course there is a story that goes with that surprise, so I'll have to share that first. Well, my beloved Pie (my stinky little boy cat w/27 toes) died almost exactly two years ago, and when he died I knew I'd want another one, but it'd be awhile before I was ready. Then about a month ago I started getting it in my head that I just really wanted a cat. A girl cat, preferably a year or more old. I've been looking at my friend Di's Cross My Heart Rescue emails (http://www.crossmyheartrescue.com/) and I have talked to Josh about my feelings. I've been a little bit on the fence about it...I want to rescue a cat, I want a kitty to love again...but did I want the responsibility, the cost, the extra hassle? This isn't something to take lightly, this is a long-term commitment to another living, breathing being. Josh was not as indecisive as I have been, his answer was NO. And if he was in a silly mood he would tell me that I could have another cat when he got a hedgehog. Well, the hedgehog is NOT going to happen. So it sort of became a stalemate. THEN a week or so after I first brought it up with Josh this small black cat shows up in our backyard. Josh immediately starts claiming that I went and got a cat without his permission and wants to know when he gets his hedgehog. He knows better of course, because I wouldn't get a cat and keep her outside near that busy road. ANYWAY, we kid back and forth about that cat for another week and during this time I tell my friend Di about her. She asked me how I know it's a girl (since I've never actually gotten that close to her) and I tell her I don't know for a fact that she's a girl, it's just what I call her. She tells me...well, you'll know it if it's a girl, because she's probably hanging around under your house having kittens. Lo & behold, one or two weeks later...yesterday morning, we find two kittens in a bundle in the backyard. Josh chasing them down so that we could crate them is another long funny story...but of course I'm being (jokingly) blamed for the kittens too. The DEJA VU is that I sooo wanted a cat, and the cat that showed up right after that is a girl...and the 2 kittens that she left behind were ALSO GIRLS! Just what I wanted. Haha!! At this point I think Josh may really like the little girls.

Here's my big thing though...I'm still not totally sure that we should keep them. I know I want them, but not just one...I want them both. They're sisters, they cuddle and protect each other. It's precious, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Also, there is the dogs. Parker & Trapper are sweet, loving dogs. They've never hurt any small animals, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't UNINTENTIONALLY hurt one/both. Of course, no matter what...they need to be socialized first. Kitty 1 is mean. She spits, hisses, claws & bites. Kitty 2 is sweeter, and in one day is already showing a lot of improvement in disposition. So, now Josh has bought wet & dry kitten food (he bought the wet food because he was very concerned that they couldn't eat the dry food, even though they are most likely 7 or 8 weeks old. I have a feeling that we are all about to get very attached to two very precious, high maintenance kittens...this could all go very bad. LOL! I'll share a pic with everyone. And I request that everyone vote (top right) on my 4 pair of kitten name choices.
