I got ants in my pants

The kittens are officially named! It’s Sassy & Lizzy! Or, as we’ve been calling them…Sassy-poo & Lizzy-pie. I’m still not sure if we’ll keep them. I just can’t say if I’m ready yet, but the longer we keep them the harder it is to think of letting them go. Wait till I come home and the garbage is knocked over and strewn all around the floor, then I might feel differently, but for now I just love ‘em. Braden likes them too, and Kendall is CRAZY about them. She wants to hold them and carry them around like dolls all the time. They’ve had a couple of baths and now they’ve been upgraded to living in the bathroom. We’ve bought them a scratch post & toys, so they’re occupied. They’ll continue to live in the bathroom until after we get back from our beach trip. Then I’ll give myself a week or two to decide on a permanent solution, because they really need their shots & need to be fixed. Ugh, more money.

SASSY--

LIZZY--

I have to share this story, because it’s just too funny. Braden is your typical boy, of course. So when he & Josh are watching t.v. they always go "Ewww! Gross!" if there’s ever any kissing in a scene. Last night they were watching Chronicles of Narnia – Prince Caspian and when the kiss came on at the end, Josh said the typical statement, "Ewww! Gross!" and Braden said, "No it’s not daddy, it’s sweet". Josh says he’s officially lost the battle…Braden’s officially all mine. Hahaha!
Alright, so I’m antsy as I could possibly be. We’re officially less than 5 days till beach time, and I can’t wait. Once more work day, three more non-work days…and then one long drive. I already scoped out places I want to eat, places we want to go play, best travel routes, I’m working on a grocery list and packing list… I can’t wait! Josh’s birthday is next Wednesday and I bought his present yesterday and all this excitement has me wondering if I’ll even be able to wait until then to give it to him! We’re taking the laptop, and I’ll probably get online at least one night while were down there (yay for free wi-fi!) and I’m going to send some envy-inducing pictures to my blog. I hope everyone has a great week, and I’ll be sure to share any new and exciting stories when we get back.

The Honeymoon Is Over

Happy Anniversary to me and Josh! Yay!! (And happy birthday to my sister-in-law Lara) I really don’t know what to say… I’m happy that I’m married to such a good man that loves me and takes such good care of our family. I won’t go on, and on about all the sappy stuff, but suffice it to say that I’m a very lucky woman. I doubt that either of us could have envisioned our lives as they are today when we first met 6 years ago. I know that I wouldn’t change any of it though. Well, I probably would have changed a few things, but I know we’d still be together. So CHEERS to us! And I pray God will give us many, many more years to share with one another.

Thanks to everyone who’s voted on the kitty names. I’ll decide for sure by the end of this coming weekend and let everyone know which pair I’ve settled on. Quick update though: the kittens mom has started showing up and laying down at the door of the crate that we keep them in during the day (they stay in the carport until I can take them to the vet and get them shots and cleaned up). It’s making me sad. She wants her babies back…I’m trying to feed her and make her warm up to us. I’m still waiting to see where all the cards will fall in all of this. Oh, and Diana has mentioned that I should name the kittens, Thelma & Louise. That’s too funny!

Deja Vu

This weekend was just me, Josh & Brady. Since it's been so rainy we thought we'd just hang out and chill...yeah, that never works. Saturday, I went to my friend KB's baby shower in Mt. Olive. it was so nice! Her mother-in-law hosted it and she's such a gracious hostess. It made it fun since I knew almost everyone there. She got some awesome stuff! In the 3+ years since we had our boys (her son is 5 months younger than Brady) they've already come out with so many new things. It's just crazy to think of all the new cool stuff that will come out by the time Josh and I get to have another baby. Some days I think I'd like that time to be now, but most days I know that I won't be ready to let that happen until Brady is a little bit older.

Also on Saturday we got a little surprise, but of course there is a story that goes with that surprise, so I'll have to share that first. Well, my beloved Pie (my stinky little boy cat w/27 toes) died almost exactly two years ago, and when he died I knew I'd want another one, but it'd be awhile before I was ready. Then about a month ago I started getting it in my head that I just really wanted a cat. A girl cat, preferably a year or more old. I've been looking at my friend Di's Cross My Heart Rescue emails (http://www.crossmyheartrescue.com/) and I have talked to Josh about my feelings. I've been a little bit on the fence about it...I want to rescue a cat, I want a kitty to love again...but did I want the responsibility, the cost, the extra hassle? This isn't something to take lightly, this is a long-term commitment to another living, breathing being. Josh was not as indecisive as I have been, his answer was NO. And if he was in a silly mood he would tell me that I could have another cat when he got a hedgehog. Well, the hedgehog is NOT going to happen. So it sort of became a stalemate. THEN a week or so after I first brought it up with Josh this small black cat shows up in our backyard. Josh immediately starts claiming that I went and got a cat without his permission and wants to know when he gets his hedgehog. He knows better of course, because I wouldn't get a cat and keep her outside near that busy road. ANYWAY, we kid back and forth about that cat for another week and during this time I tell my friend Di about her. She asked me how I know it's a girl (since I've never actually gotten that close to her) and I tell her I don't know for a fact that she's a girl, it's just what I call her. She tells me...well, you'll know it if it's a girl, because she's probably hanging around under your house having kittens. Lo & behold, one or two weeks later...yesterday morning, we find two kittens in a bundle in the backyard. Josh chasing them down so that we could crate them is another long funny story...but of course I'm being (jokingly) blamed for the kittens too. The DEJA VU is that I sooo wanted a cat, and the cat that showed up right after that is a girl...and the 2 kittens that she left behind were ALSO GIRLS! Just what I wanted. Haha!! At this point I think Josh may really like the little girls.

Here's my big thing though...I'm still not totally sure that we should keep them. I know I want them, but not just one...I want them both. They're sisters, they cuddle and protect each other. It's precious, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Also, there is the dogs. Parker & Trapper are sweet, loving dogs. They've never hurt any small animals, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't UNINTENTIONALLY hurt one/both. Of course, no matter what...they need to be socialized first. Kitty 1 is mean. She spits, hisses, claws & bites. Kitty 2 is sweeter, and in one day is already showing a lot of improvement in disposition. So, now Josh has bought wet & dry kitten food (he bought the wet food because he was very concerned that they couldn't eat the dry food, even though they are most likely 7 or 8 weeks old. I have a feeling that we are all about to get very attached to two very precious, high maintenance kittens...this could all go very bad. LOL! I'll share a pic with everyone. And I request that everyone vote (top right) on my 4 pair of kitten name choices.

Joie de vivre!

Once again I have to start with another of my favorite New Orleans sayings, it literally means "joy of living". I'd like to think Josh and I have plenty joie de vivre to go around! Anyway, I thought I'd let everyone know how much we enjoyed the Crawfish Boil. I was so thrilled to see 311! They were last, of course, so I was exhausted by the time we left. Several friends met us there and sat with us and watched the bands. I also happened to run into my cousin Angie. I hadn't seen her in about 2 years, so it was nice. Here's a few pics of the evening:
